Recent work from Karla Marie Bentzen – “Crimes of Passion”:

Karla Marie Bentzen’s work is a colourful expression of dark human interactions that coexist with orderly geometrical points of focus. A number of fictional characters set the scenes in an absurd world, where the ugly and overwhelming aspects of life are not to be hidden. Relations between people are being examined and although it sometimes can be a struggle to find order, there still is a paradoxical meditative element to her work. Though her artistic process is throughly controlled, this is a place seemingly consumed with magic and spirituality, a place where the mind is free to venture into the unknown. Using the subconscious as an important tool, she explores landscapes of intricate patterns and symmetrical compositions. A complex imagery of detailed line work, where the joy of drawing visual games presents itself as an important element.

All works are untitled and done with gouache and ink on 250 grams heavy weight paper.
