VÆG is a gallery focusing on up-and-coming contemporary art. VÆG is an open and unpretentious space, which presents and connects emerging artists to the general public. Craftsmannship,
You are cordially invited to the opening of the spring exhibition at VÆG:
Saturday, March 11. 2023 – from 11am to 3pm
blue solace – MARK EBERT LØVENDAHL (DK)
undergrund overflade – DORETE BENDIXEN (DK)
Spring is coming. Changes. The light. The landscape. Our mind. We present two artists both striving to create space for presence and thoughtfulness.
Mark Ebert Løvendahl paints jazz in a pure, fragile modernistic way. The music emphasizes a certain melancholic state of mind that brings energy to the painting process. Mark has a special degree of aesthetic sensibility. His paintings are vibrant and physical – playing with the duality between the formal painting as material and impulsive, energetic brush strokes as an abstract way of sensing the perception itself. Mark is engaged in connecting with composition, rhythm, form and balance. With a baseline firmly anchored in melancholia and introspection, and through monochromatic color choices and simple shapes and textures, the works seek to highlight a sense of calmness and reflection. Blue solace.
Dorete Bendixen is making her debut at VÆG. She is almost working as an anthropologist, geologist and ceramicist at the same time. Dorete is inspired by traditional Korean moon jars. But she brings her ceramics to a new place – creating site specific sculptures made by local materials. Searching, testing and collecting raw materials all around in the Nordic countries. Knowledge of materials, a keen sense of form, a methodical approach and great presence are required to succeed with such a complex, ambitious and demanding work process. These are qualities she masters to the full. The moon jars exudes well-considered aesthetics, fine poetry and a sense of the interrelationships of visual elements. Dorete tells original stories about our local geology, nature and culture.
Saturday, March 11th 2023 – from 11am to 2pm.
The exhibition is on view until April 15th 2023
Both artists will be present at the opening.
We look forward to seeing you.
Kind regards, Lars Bonde
