Teenagers left by the swimming pool. A woman struggling with a chair, 11 kilos of yellow wine gum, meditation in India, body and gaze, scissors, figs and a dog. About identity creation, intimacy and staging, the fragile anatomy of cultural heritage, a nerdy fascination with materials, form and function, aesthetics, complex family relationships, clear memories of youth, conventions, body ideals, gender and representation. 

Curating a group exhibition can be a challenge. Four artists, each with their own idiom, understanding of colour and sense of originality.Independent personalities with individual intentions and ambitions.

How do you create a common focal point? How do you create a coherent whole? A special theme. Is that even the point? Should there be a fixed point – a unifying concept? Or can you let chance prevail? Let the individual works have their own character and find their own rhythm and points of connection. Make the space accessible – open up stories, ruptures and relationships. Resonance. Perhaps another place in the sun will emerge?
