Uncertain times. Our perception of reality is challenged. Truth is relative. What you see is perhaps not what you get. Perspective. What happens if the focus is changed? On the openings that appear when the gaze changes. Hidden doors are revealed \u2013 maybe another world comes into view. Both Sylvest Jeppesen (b. 1974) and Henrik Glahn (b. 1962) strive to reach out \u2013 open a doorway to a world - making room for something deeper , something authentic. There is a certain kind of spirituality connected to their works. Contemporary and yet a timeless aesthetic.<\/pre>\n

The surface. There is always something behind the immediate.  We assume it to be recognizable. That is usually the rule. But as we go deeper, perspectives often become distorted. Things shift. Logic dissolves. What is actually going on?  <\/p>\n
Sylvest Jeppesen’s oil paintings are expressive and uncompromising. Brushstrokes layered upon brushstrokes. Tones and nuances carefully balanced. Light and shadow play against each other. Archetypal figures emerge as exponents of psychological landscapes. What is it within the self that drives us? How do we relate to our shadow sides?   <\/p>\n
Jeppesen is fascinated by the space between the abstract and the figurative. How deep can he go? Where does he let things rest? How far can the perspective be stretched into depth? How much may the surface dominate – and be the primary focus – when the ambition is to capture and uncover the inner narrative?<\/p>\n

Mental overload. We are constantly stimulated by information and impressions, continuously analysed and retprocessed in our conscious minds.   <\/p>\n
Henrik Glahn’s concrete sculptures are both monumental and powerful, while also speaking to the emotions.  <\/p>\n
Positioned in the tension between the figurative and the abstract, the sculptures explore inner boundaries and openings that resonate with the outer world. Their monochrome colours give space to the language of form.  <\/p>\n
The compositions challenge \u2013 playing with perspective and space. Contraction \u2013 expansion.  What is substance? Are we focusing in the right place? <\/p>\n
With their playful shapes and open spaces, the sculptures become metaphors for expansion. Can we, without using our thoughts and analytical abilities, simply sense a ‘space of possibilities’? <\/p>\n
The dialogue between form and figure – between construction and deconstruction, expressed through strong yet brittle concrete – tells a story of both our strength and our vulnerability.<\/p>\n
